03.19.04 - Do I ever cross your mind, anytime? Do you ever wake up reaching out for me...

:: Tuesday, September 16, 2003 ::
So. much. fricking. reading. All those people who said that there would be weren't kidding at all. It's the second week of school and I'm already behind!! This is why I can't do anything on the weekends anymore, except for maybe watch a little bit of Queer Eye on my computer.

I'm taking a break (translation: my eyes will eventually just drop off of my face if I continue to read anymore) from Frankenstein to update this trusty blog.

I realize that I don't use this thing as effectively as I should. I read the blogs of other people, and every entry, there's something new (and interesting...most of the time, at least) to say. I don't know whether I'm just lazy...wait, I do know, and that is exactly the reason why I don't take the time out to do this thing properly. But then again, who's to say what's "proper" and what's not, right? We're the first generation of bloggers, we'll make our own decorum...and by "we", I really mean "me", or "I", in a proper grammatical context.

I just read Wordsworth's preface to Lyrical Ballads. My, my, that man sure is wordy. I wonder if it's just a funny coincidence that his name is "Wordsworth"? I'm pretty sure millions of other people have already recognized this, so I'm just going to leave that alone.

You know what really bothers me? I've been reading teen magazines for about 10 years now (although now I don't do it as much as before, obviously), and it's really disturbing how the content never really seems to change. Every 5 years or so, they bring back up the same stories, and at least one of them will feature a "player". Then, female readers will always write in, complaining about how a promiscuous man is called a "stud" while promiscuous females are called "sluts"... Then said female reader will go on and on about how this is an injustice to women everywhere, and she'll pretend to be all intelligent because she came up with this revelation all by herself.

When people try to be, or pretend to be, innovators of thought, it really pisses me off. Same thing when these so-called innovators look down upon others who are supposedly less intelligent, because it's just foolish and irritating.

This isn't directed at anyone in particular, well...maybe it is, but you all know who you are ;)
